Beach 85th Street

Fisherman like to hang out in shacks close to the water where there is plenty of sky, sun and water. More than 30 years ago the Beach House 85th Street was just that -- a club for fisherman where they could keep an eye on the water but enjoy relaxing after a long day on their boats.  Today this amazing beach cottage, which was built on stilts, is a weekend haven and immediately adjacent to great parking which is a major win for productions looking to shoot at a one of a kind space with plenty of open air and room to keep crew socially distanced. Two bedrooms, living room and kitchen make this an ideal getaway, intimate and easily adaptable to a variety of interior settings! All the rooms speak to open air and sunlight floods throughout.

This restored Rockaway bungalow had a a close call with Hurricane Sandy, but has been lovingly and painstakingly restored and reinforced by its owners. A profile of their restoration journey in New York Magazine’s The Cut from 2014 states, “…with the help of the city’s Rapid Repairs program and a handyman, the place is now in better shape than ever...The home’s biggest threat these days isn’t rising tides but development.” Development in Rockaway is threatening the many unique properties that are maintained by creative and dedicated New Yorkers, providing a vital resource to film and television productions looking for locations with plenty of outdoor space that still have an intimate and distinctly urban feel on the interior.
